Thinkers Recourse is owned by Mansoor and Troy.
Mansoor began Thinkers Recourse in 2003 as a project to raise funds for community work. Mansoor’s vision for Thinkers Recourse is to broaden the spectrum of informed discourse in communities. Mansoor hopes to accomplish this by providing a wide selection of quailty literature that provides historic and comteporary context about issues that communities are faced with. He also hopes to encourage individuals and communities to share in interesting, informed and meaningful dialogue about issues of mutual concern. He also hopes to assist people looking to deepen their contemporary and historical knowledge so as to better put our world and current events in context. Mansoor has an MBA and is currently pursing his CMA designation.
Troy partnered with Mansoor in July 2006 in order to bring Thinkers Recourse online and create a literary community that makes a space for those voices that mainstream media has a tendency to appropriate and misrepresent. Troy feels that Thinkers Recourse should be more than a point of sale; that it should be a point of information and a venue for literary and social critique. If one does not contribute to the literature of a society, production and definition, then one is necessarily on the margins of that society. Putting the world in its present and historical context means reading the right literature; this is Mansoor and Troy’s shared vision for Thinkers Recourse. Troy has a BA, Honours, in English Literature and is currently doing in his MA in English at Concordia.
